On how I accidentally learned from my mistakes
I am a writer. And a life-long lover of music. Until recently I had only written one and a half songs. Ever. In my life. And I FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY accidentally learned what I was doing wrong. Number 1: If I ever tried to write a song, I’d de-music my life for fear of just writing along to the same tune I was hearing. Turns out when the music is playing, it forces me to fight it with a my own melody and beat. Unintentional lessoned learned, both in writing music and in life. Number 2: If I ever tried to write a song, I’d generalize and white-wash in the motivation of trying to make the words relateable. Turns out, the more specific, the more details, the more it couldn’t possibly refer to any situation or person or feeling than exactly the one I’m writing about, the more relatable it is. Also a life lesson, though more difficult to explain the application. I am feeling so inspired and successful and proud. I cannot wait to share the music I’ve waited years to come into existence. Xoxoxo love & light to all
New shirt I made. Proud.
That’s the first time that’s happened.
I heard that song and my heart didn’t break on the sixth note. That’s never happened.
brilliant idea-from-my-shower of the night:
The cost of music should be reversely proportional to its popularity. Example: aw man I got that shit back when it was two bucks a song! Or: if you just want to catch up on all the stuff you hear on the radio? 2 cents a song. Clearly they’re selling enough to make a living, right?
My favorite songs in 2011
Not by any means a list of songs released in 2011… because I am way behind, or like..sideways, backwards, not quite on track… with new music. BUT! These were my favorites and definitely most played throughout the year!
